Extendicare women continue to lead the way to improve seniors' care

For the second year in a row, Extendicare has been named to the Globe and Mail Women Lead Here List, an annual benchmark of executive gender diversity in large Canadian corporate organizations.

After evaluating approximately 500 Canadian companies, a short list of 90 companies has been identified that have the highest numbers of women in leadership positions. Women make up most of our workforce. We are proud to be recognized for our commitment to support women in leadership, and are grateful to the many women leaders across Extendicare and ParaMed who make our mission to help people live better a reality every day.

Whether they provide compassionate support to residents in our long-term care homes, connect patients in the community with essential home health care or serve in an executive capacity, women lead the way at Extendicare and ParaMed every day, at every level of the organization.

We spoke with a few of the many inspiring women leaders at Extendicare about how they embrace challenges, build strong relationships, and make a difference in the lives of those in our care. Click the link below to watch.

To help promote awareness of the challenges facing gender equality and diversity in organizations across the country, we have also collaborated with the The Prosperity Project to support their national research project.

Extendicare was among 98 organizations across the country to share workplace data for the Prosperity Project’s annual report card on representation of women in leadership roles. By participating in the initiative, we hope to help women of all cultural backgrounds overcome these challenges and rise to their potential.

In this year’s Annual Report Card, the Prosperity Project found that in comparison to all industries included in the study, representation of women at leadership levels at Extendicare is more than 23% higher than the average.

While there is still more work to be done both in our organization and across the country, we are proud to be recognized for our commitment to providing all of our team members with ongoing opportunities for career advancement, as we work together to Improve Care, Every Day.
